In Arizona, if you are 21 or older, you can receive a DUI if your Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is 0.08% or higher. For commercial vehicle drivers, the limit is 0.04%, and for drivers under 21, any alcohol (0.00%) can lead to a DUI.

A steady red light means stop. You must come to a complete stop before you reach the intersection, stop line, or crosswalk. Remain stopped for as long as the light stays red. Where not prohibited by signs, you can turn right after coming to a complete stop when motor traffic and pedestrian traffic are clear. You may also turn left from a one-way street onto another one-way street, unless signs prohibit it, and only after stopping and yielding to traffic and pedestrians.

Traffic signal ahead. Slow down and prepare to stop if necessary.

Once inside the roundabout, don't stop and don't try to pass large trucks. Follow directions on signs or pavement markings about which lane to use, then stay in your lane. Use your right turn signal when exiting.

You must not pass when approaching within 100 feet of a street crossing.

If your vehicle skids, ease off the gas and steer in the direction of the skid.

You must never pass on the right by driving off the paved or main portion of the roadway.

Do not cross the tracks until all signals have stopped and the crossing gate is up. Do not drive around or under a closed gate. It is dangerous and against the law.

Seat-back head restraints reduce the chance of whiplash injury in rear-end collisions. If they are adjustable, you should position them to fit against the back of your head and to line up with the middle of the ear.

When vehicles arrive simultaneously at a four-way stop, the vehicle to the right has the right-of-way.

It is a Class 2 misdemeanor for a driver or passenger to consume or possess an open container of spirituous liquor in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle while on any public highway or right-of-way.

When approaching an intersection with an inoperative traffic control signal, treat it like a 4-way stop. Come to a complete stop before entering the intersection, and then proceed when the roadway is clear. If two vehicles arrive at the intersection at about the same time, both must stop, and the driver on the left must yield the right-of-way to the driver on the right.

Follow trucks at a safe distance. Trucks are almost as wide as some lanes of travel. If you follow too closely behind, you will not be able to react quickly enough to changing traffic conditions. Large vehicles block your view of the road ahead, so you will need extra distance to see around them.

When approaching a school bus that is picking up or dropping off passengers, you must come to a complete stop before reaching the bus, regardless of your direction of travel. You do not need to stop for a school bus if you travel in the opposite direction on a divided roadway. A divided roadway has physical barriers such as a fence, curbing, or pavement separation. Painted lines alone do not count as a physical separation of the roadway.

Double solid yellow lines mean passing is prohibited in either direction. You may not cross the lines unless you make a left turn.

Driving requires skill and judgment, both of which are diminished through consumption of alcohol. Alcohol seriously reduces your reflexes, physical control over the vehicle, and ability to recognize dangerous situations. Your ability to drive can be affected even after one drink.

Driving in heavy fog is dangerous. If possible, wait until the fog lifts.

In Arizona, the speed limit in residential or business districts is typically 25 mph unless otherwise posted.

State and federal laws require that children are secured in an age-appropriate child passenger restraint system until they are 8 years of age, or at least four feet, nine inches tall.

You must dim your headlights when within 500 feet of an oncoming vehicle and within 200 feet when following another vehicle.

Signaling lets other drivers know you will do something different and gives them time to react to your move. You can help the driver behind you maintain a safe following distance by driving at a constant speed and signaling in advance whenever you are slowing or stopping.

A flashing yellow light means you should slow down and proceed cautiously if the roadway is clear. You do not need to stop for a flashing yellow light, but you must be especially alert before entering the intersection.

If you encounter a severe dust storm:

• Reduce your speed immediately.
• Drive carefully off the highway.
• Stop as far to the right as possible.
• Turn off your lights and take your foot off the brake.
• Turn off hazard lights.
• Wait until the dust storm has passed.

When entering a paved thoroughfare from a private road, a driveway, or an unpaved road, you must stop. You must then give the right-of-way to pedestrians, bicyclists, or vehicles on the road you are entering.

Do not use your cell phone during hazardous conditions. Pull off the road safely and stop if you are going to use a cell phone or send/receive a text message. Use of such devices while driving results in distracted driving behavior and is dangerous. While operating a motor vehicle, both hands should be on the steering wheel, allowing the driver full control.

Reduced visibility, glare from oncoming headlights, and unseen objects in the road all combine to make night driving hazardous. Headlights are a poor substitute for daylight. Never drive so fast that you cannot stop within the distance you can see ahead with your headlights.

Many two-way streets have a center lane marked as a two-way left turn lane. This lane is bordered on either side by two yellow lines - broken inner and solid outer lines. You must use this lane if preparing for or making a left turn from or into the roadway or if preparing for or making a U-turn (if otherwise permitted by law). Do not use the two-way left turn lane for passing or for thru traffic.

Winding Road. There are several curves ahead. Slow down and drive carefully.

It is not true that they need less room to maneuver. Large vehicles are more difficult to maneuver and require much more room to turn.

Parking is not allowed on a crosswalk.
