Prepare for Your AZ Knowledge Test

To prepare for your knowledge test, we recommend studying the Arizona Driver License Manual and Customer Service Guide. These booklets provide essential safety information for both new and experienced Arizona drivers. They are available online at azdot.gov/mvd or at any Motor Vehicle Division office.

It is a good idea to read the manual since MVD pulls all questions on the written exam from it. The answers to all questions on the exam are in this manual.

When you drive in Arizona, the state expects you to know and abide by all the rules mentioned in the manual.

Two Effective Study Tips

Find a friend to study with. Being two makes it more fun. If you need help understanding parts of the manual, make notes and ask questions. You will learn better when you verbally communicate facts such as safe driving practices with your own words.

Give it time. Some new drivers may say they did not study for the exam and still passed. However, very few (if any) people pass their driver’s permit test without studying. The more time you spend with the driver’s manual and the more practice tests you take, the better your chances of passing the first time.

If the sample tests on this website aren’t enough, visit Driver’s Prep. They offer endless and 100% FREE DMV practice tests. It has the largest pool of test questions and answers online. It has been online since 2007.
