Steep hill ahead. You are approaching a downgrade. Slow down and approach with caution. It may be necessary to use a lower gear to slow your vehicle.

No parking allowed between posted hours (from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) You may, however, park between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Do not pass signs are rectangular signs indicating locations where you must not pass on two- or three-lane roads. You must not pass another vehicle where these signs are posted. A yellow pennant-shaped sign may be on the left-hand side of the road or highway in addition to a Do Not Pass sign or pavement markings.

Road or street ahead is for one-way traffic. Do not drive into it.

You will see this sign at roadway openings that you should not enter, such as exit ramps where you would be going in the wrong direction, crossovers on divided roadways, and at numerous locations on one-way streets.

Remember, the sign is square with a white horizontal line inside a red ball. It is not circular!

The color red means that an action is against the law.

Divided highway ends. The divided highway you are traveling ends ahead. Be careful as you approach the point where two-way traffic begins again.

Keep right. A divided highway or traffic island where traffic must keep right is ahead. Stay on the right side of the divider.

Lane ends or road narrows. There will be fewer lanes ahead. Traffic must merge left. Drivers in the left lane should allow others to merge smoothly.

Sometimes it is desirable to have traffic in a lane in one direction at certain times and the opposite direction at other times. Lane control signals are used to control the direction of traffic movement in the lane. The signal is placed over the traffic lane it controls.

The yellow X means that you must move out of that lane of traffic because it is going to be used for traffic moving in the opposite direction. When the yellow X signal is flashing you may use that lane only when preparing to turn left.

A red flashing signal has the same meaning as a stop sign. A stop sign will also be posted where this signal is located.

You must always bring your vehicle to a complete stop and yield to approaching traffic before proceeding.
