Taking Practice Tests Help
You’ve probably heard it before, but here it is again: Taking practice tests is an effective way to improve your knowledge and ability to recall information.
Many studies have found that students who took practice tests after studying a textbook did better on the final exam than those students who didn’t use such mock tests.
Realizing which your weaknesses are and what you don’t fully understand is an excellent way of getting ready for your DMV exam.
It is, however, usually not enough to just memorize the correct answer on a practice test. Wording of questions and answers vary.
Ask yourself, or let someone else ask you, for an explanation. Psychologists call this “elaborative interrogation”. It is basically asking yourself “why”. It has a great effect on your learning.
Rereading and highlighting a text in the Manual has a lower effect on your learning, but don’t take this as an excuse for not reading your Driver’s Manual.
Your best strategy is to read the manual and take many practice tests as a supplement. This will help you pass the exam the first time.
